CEO/Founder QTNMHPHC, BHSA

Kathryn L. Scurry is the CEO/Founder of Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter and

is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She started her mission to help queer community members gain better access to mental healthcare providers, services, and support after going through her own struggles to find services that catered to her mental well-being.

Founders Mission

Kathryn's mission within Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter focuses on increasing queer-affirming mental health professionals, access to mental health services, resources, and support for all LGBTQIA+ community members and their families worldwide. She continues to be instrumental in the development of QTNMHPHC and the BHSA Behavioral Health Apprenticeship Program that is registered and recognized by the Texas Department of Labor, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the Texas Workforce Commission while serving as the CEO/Founder to create and implement education, hands-on training, job placement and training standards for queer-affirming therapists, supporters, and allies providing queer-affirming mental health services, resources, and support to the queer community.

Kathryn is a passionate advocate for queer rights and believes that access to affirmative mental healthcare is the missing critical part to creating inclusive societies and is committed to helping queer community members build resilience in the face of discrimination and marginalization. She is also the recipient of the 2022 “Queer to Stay: An LGBTQ+ Business Preservation Initiative Small Business Grant," awarded by the Human Rights Campaign and SHOWTIME, which celebrates and supports LGBTQIA+ business owners, helping small businesses around the globe.
