Membership

Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter (QTNMHPHC) of mental health professionals who identify as queer, supporters, and allies offers a safe space for mental health professionals to provide services, connect, share resources, and discuss best practices in providing queer-affirmative therapy to queer community members and their families..

Membership Dues

Membership dues help to fund the organization's mission to provide free or low-cost mental health services, education and training, scholarships, networking events and more. Membership dues upon signup for individual therapist are $59 a month and organizations are $99 a month and it includes your first month dues as a member and access to a variety of benefits that can help you grow as a mental health professional 

Membership Offerings

  • Accredited chapter of queer-affirming, supporter, and ally mental health professionals

  • Booking Referrals for Mental Health Services

  • LGBTQ+ education/training courses, webinars, and seminars. 

  • Paid apprenticeship mentorship program 

  • Training, resources, and support from partnering organizations

  • Therapist to therapist support 

Membership benefits also include:

  • A quarterly newsletter that provides information about new members, upcoming events, webinars, seminars, and resources.

  • Discounted rates for events, seminars, and webinars hosted by QTNMHPHC.

  • Invites to our annual meeting and the chance to have your voice heard on important topics.

  • Opportunity to serve on the Queer Mental Health Professional Chapter Board after a 2 year membership in good standing and selected to be involved in the shaping of our organization's future.

Membership Waiver

Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter is extremely passionate about our work and offer members the opportunity to volunteer to waive the monthly membership fee here

Please note: All waivers are subject to volunteer positions availability and may change once volunteer position has been filled.

Membership Vetting

Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter is committed to the values of diversity, inclusion, and equality in mental health care. Members are carefully vetted to ensure that only individuals with the best interests of the queer community's mental health that align with our mission, vision, and goals are accepted as members. 

The purpose of the vetting process is to ensure that potential members have a good understanding of our mission, vision, and goals, and the processes by which the chapter operates. In addition, potential members must agree to abide by the Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter code of conduct designed to promote cooperation and to ensure that the chapter remains a welcoming and safe community. Any violation of the code of conduct can result in being removed as a member.

Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter understands that situations may arise and we expect all mental health professional members, staff, etc. to conduct themselves in a professional manner and abide by a code of conduct that covers appropriate behavior towards other members and the community at large.

Each applicant for membership in the Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter is required to provide the following: 

  • Their name, address, contact information, and email address

  • The name of their mental health professional organization or license type(s)

  • A statement of their commitment to the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity in mental health care.

  • In addition, each membership applicant shall consent to a background check.

Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant who does not meet, fails to, or refuses to provide the following requirements listed above.

QTNMHPHC Code of Conduct

As a member of the Queer Therapy Network MHP Houston Chapter, I agree to the following code of conduct:

  • I will promote the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity in mental health care in all my professional and personal interactions.

  • I will treat all people with respect and dignity, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability status. 

  • I will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on any of these characteristics. 

  • I will maintain the confidentiality of any information shared with me in the course of my work as a chapter member and I will comply with all applicable laws and ethical standards in my work as a mental health professional.
